Pond Heron

This Pond Heron remained still for a long time hidden in this site. Its habit is to sit hunched for long periods. It is often seen at the edge of water, waiting to pounce on its prey whenever there is a movement in the water.

Although the body looks brown, its glistening white under belly and feathers are visible when it is air borne.

Often these  birds are seen alone unlike other water birds. It is their harsh croak which alerts us of their presence.

However the Pond Herons can also be seen along with other birds such as crows.

What fascinates me is its still presence.

It does not get noticed because of its earthy colour and still presence.

But its still presence gives me an isight about the value of still presence as a way of living!
