Candle and Flowers !

Anna and I have had a candle on our central table since we came to live in our cottage here. We light  a candle whenever we have an unhurried time together. We gather the flowers in this vase from our garden at least twice a week.

A candle reminds us of the life that we are blessed with. Flowers symbolise the gift we bring from our life to each other and others.  

Our times can be momentous and refreshing if we dedicate the time to the person. 

This would mean that telephone calls, other distractions do not take away the dedicated time we offer to each other. 

I find this as a struggle. Sometimes a telephone call that I was expecting arrives at a time when I am in conversation with another person. I postpone attending to the phone most of the times, but there are more exceptions than I would have liked. 

Time dedicated to a person with whom we are in conversation is a dedicated time. To me it is a sacred  time!

The overtaker!

The young and the senior citizen were riding side by side on the road behind our compound wall for a  short distance, today early in the morning. The young man overtook the senior citizen, because the former's speed was more than that of the other. The senior citizen looked  rather uncomfortable in the scooter, sitting couched and looking not so steady!  I wish he was on a automatic three wheeler, which would be more safe for him!

Nevertheless this is the fact of life! The overtakers seem to reach their destination faster.

In a competitive environment, there is a compulsion to overtake and be successful! 

This senior citizen, who is moving at his pace too would hopefully arrive at his destination. 

The difference is they are differently able, which affects their way of life and purpose in life. 

The less able are usually left behind. 

They too need enabling to live with fullness of life!

The stress of work and pleasure of leisure!

The wrinkles on the face of the man working on the roof tells it all. His labour is effortful and difficult! The intense look on his face worried me! He was on the roof of the building without any protectivr gear! 

In the adjacent car park, this door was blissfully resting!

All of us bear the stress and scars of daily work. The relief comes when we find ways to let go of the burden of work and add to the daily rhythm time to rest and feel refreshed. 

All work places need to have a corner where people can come to be quiet or rest a while. 

I wonder if work places can have a room with card or board games or activiteis ot relax, to feel relieved from the effects of physical or emotional heaviness!

To do so would mean that we care for those who serve!
