Differences are distinctions !

It is the first time I sighted a Racket -Tailed Drongo with greyish tails.

Anna and I have watched a hosts of Drongo birds in our garden in the last two months. They have different patterns in tier trials. It is one of the ways the eight species of Drongo are identified in ' The Book of Indian Birds' authored by Salim Ali in its 12 edition.

The differences are distinctive features!

The differences ought no to be reasons for divisive attitudes. The tradition I come from, there is a cultural pressure to conform as a result of which there are extremes of opinions that divide us as a community.

We are diverse as a community ethnically, socially, religiously and traditionally!

The differences from others are indeed distinctions which add colour and variety to the social fabric.

A Drongo bird with grey tail does not cease to be a Drongo bird just because its tail colour is different  from that of the majority!

I struggle with this a lot !

The differences some children have from others in the way they walk, talk, or behave become a reason for others to refer to them as 'disabled'!

Let me plead that their differences are their distinctions.

At  marriage reception yesterday, I watched a teenage boy use five musical instruments excellently and admirably. He is different in his academic abilities.
