Sing for peace!

I kept wondering about the slogan 'No war' seen in this photo!

I realise that there is a common sight of 'war of words' in the national TV Channels! I visited 12 national channels yesterday and listened to the the dialogue or debate or discourse ! I also visited three international channels. I found a contrast in the way anchors conduct these conversations in those three channels.

The anchors in the national channels tend to be forceful, opinionated, and imposing! There are some exceptions, which is heartening. When the anchors become biased, the conversations gradually drift to  become accusations and judgements. It becomes noisy, threatening and uncivil!

I took time to observe some speakers who are designated spokespersons of political parties! What is evident is loss of temper and refusal to listen to each other. The conversations become defensive and self promotional or ideology centric to negate the whole truth!

It is sobering to read the newspapers rather than listen to these debates in the TV because there is more heat than light at the end of any conversation!

So we need to sing for 'no war of words' because, what is common between all of us, no matter what ideology we subscribe to, is  human brotherhood and sisterhood!

We moved away at the dawn of civilisation from being barbaric to being sociable! I am afraid, we still carry a barbaric spirit when we debate issues because we deny others an equal opportunity to have another point of view!

The truth in our viewpoint remains lost to the listeners until we soberly can hear to sense the truth in what the other person says!
