The rose plants in our garden now have tender shoots and buds following the pre-monsoon rains. The rose plants did weather the summer heat!
In fact the way the plants are reviving after few rains is message of hope! The stems were almost bare for a few months ago.
Yesterday, while buying some mangoes from a wayside shop, the shop keeper briefed me about five varieties of mangoes and gave me a history of the mango orchards in his village, from where he brought the mangoes for selling!
I was touched by his kindness and interest in creating an awareness about mango trees. He was not just selling mangoes, but he was creating within me an opinion and interest!
I felt revived by his interest in others, beyond seeing me as a customer.
The 'customer satisfaction' is a commercial term which is at the heart of marketing of products.
What is at the heart of this is relationship! It is this which the shop keeper was practicing yesterday.
We need others. The market forces see others as customers, who are seeking to buy!
It is yet another thing to see others as those with whom we can build relationships!
