Daffney's day time !

Anna and I felt sorry for Daffney during the day when the temperature soared to 40 degree celsius or more. She would lay quiet on the floor of the kennel and not sit on her chair. We removed her bed to give her more space on the floor when the summer set in. In fact alert and friendly as she is normally, would not even respond to us normally during the hot days. Sometimes we brought her in to our sitting room for a respite.

The summer for this year is behind us. The monsoon is about to set in shortly.

So another season of anxiety is upon us. Last year we had three cyclone and a flooding event which wrecked our property. We lost in one year more trees than we lost in seven years.

We paid a lot of attention to protect the property and trees by planning the rain water drainage. So the water pooling that lasts for a few hours after a heavy rain is overcome.

Staying in a farm has many advantages. We live close to nature and become familiar with the rhythm of flora and fauna.

The down side of this is the work force we need to keep the property protected! We hardly get local people who know the soil and can plan for making soil fertile for the plants and trees.

Farming is both a science an an art. I do not have either of it. But we still take encouragement in what has been possible.
