Loss of lives in the air!

The recent loss of thirteen lives in the crash of an India Air Force aircraft, left me disturbed and profoundly sad. It took several days to locate the crashed aircraft and the bodies of the air force personnel. The bodies remained untraceable and suffered worst form of loss of dignity of decent burial! This happened when one of the spouses of the deceased was in air traffic control adding to the anguish it caused to her. I have thought about the homes of these people and the profound grief and sense of loss with which they would live!

I have been pondering over the theme of un-natural events during the last few days ever since this incident! Already there is a news that the air craft was not really air worthy! It seems that the air force is under constraints to use aircrafts which other developed countries whorl have discarded long ago!

This is what disturbs me! One political party during the recent elections in India is estimated to have spent at least 17000 crores of rupees for its electioneering! It is that party which is in government now. So there is no resource crunch to provide basic amenities to the air force! Yet it is often done much later than on time!

To me this is a serious matter. How much do we care for human lives! Do we use others for our advantage or are people at work secured of their right to live with minimum risk!

I do not sense that this mindfulness for the wellness of others dominate adequately the thoughts of those in position of responsibility!

What we saw the New Zealand Prime Minister do by banning the indiscriminate use of the guns, following the massacre that took place, was a clear signal of decisiveness, which the Americans could not do inspite of the best efforts of its former president Mr Barack Obama.

Oh! that our leaders are men and women of immense thoughtfulness of others!
