Change process and personal morality !

I keep returning to the rose plants in our garden, about ten of them! This one is different because its leaves has a violet tinge on the edges initially, but the the leaves acquire the natural colour over a few days. The stem and the edges of the leaves retain some of thier original colour.

All of us change in our attitude, values and responses over a period of time.

Some of these changes happen naturally by our choice and some of them are forced upon us.

Recently, an access road in the hospital we work, has been shut except to the residents in that area. A new road has been made available to rest of us, who come to the hospital everyday. We were made ready for this change by regular communications from the administration during the last six months since this idea was proposed. This has reduced the congestion, earlier created by even outsiders parking their vehicles on both sides of the road!

A change is a process!

The new regulations in Kolkota city is that one can be fined upto 1 lakh rupees  if found spitting or dirtying public places.

I am not sure whether we can copy what is in existence in Singapore over night!

Even this rose plant takes about three weeks to return to its green colour. Even at the end of that period, the stem still retains the violet tinge.

It was during my student days forty years ago, the risk of smoking was highlighted. There is reduction of smoking by 30 percent among younger people over the last forty years.

The Alcoholic Anonymous, by its earnest and planned efforts restore about fifty percent of those who come to them with alcohol dependance.

All change processes begin by facilitating it and people volunteering for the change!

During my travel to some parts in the north eastern states, I came across vegetable shops without a shop keeper! People drop the cost of vegetables in a cash box and collect the vegetables.

I believe that when we are rooted in personal morality, all changes are possible because, people choose to do what is right!

This dimension of personal morality is what we lack in our public life! This is a calling!
