A farewell and Recollection time

One or two farewells in a a year! That seems to be the pattern in the department where I work now!

There were two who were leaving us yesterday. A speech therapist after a year of service and aa post graduate in paediatrics after two weeks!

I was touched by the reflection time of recalling the contributions of the speech therapist- full of admiration for the creative, critical and collaborative contributions! I wish we do not have to wait for a farewell to offer appreciative feedback! I have been an advocate of a fortnightly debriefing time in the department so that there is an ongoing upbuilding of each other. It is yet to materialise!

Th post-graduate student got integrated well in the department. He was enthusiastic and a participant in the goings on the department ! I feel encouraged by younger people who think academically and sense the thrill of clinical examination of a child to find the hidden!

The fortnightly clinical meeting is another academic activity which I hope is one way of connecting with other departments and making an effort to create a team of specialists who can collaborate better for optimising child care in the institution!
