Truth and Fraud !


 

I received the message above in my phone on 8th September.  Anna checked on-line our payment status with the Electricity board. There was no pending payment. That gave us a clear message that it was a fraud to trap us. 

The message appeared to be true and but for our access on line on a holiday, we would have been tempted to call the number given in the message. Once one calls a telephone number that is used for fraudulent practices, one is usually dragged into a trap. 

We are dragged into a digital world by the compulsions from the banking service and the on line payment practices. The fraudulent practices would also increase and no amount of cyber security vigilance would be enough.  

The older people are more vulnerable. 

Anna and I escaped this trap. There would be others as well in less suspicious ways. Once a fraudster gets hold of a telephone number, then the attempt to trap would only increase!

All is not well with our digital platforms!
