I enjoyed watching this Lily blossom each day, when I came to park the car in my allotted parking space. Yesterday after five days of the brightness that it provided, I noticed the early signs of it wilting.
It was a gift from the gardener as he thoughtfully placed it in my sight!
So either today or tomorrow, it would fade into memory with the flowers having dropped from the stem.
While sights last for a short time, memories last for a longer time!
We often look for new and vibrant experiences to keep us encouraged. When thy are not forthcoming, we might feel low.
But turn to the treasure of our memories, they are for ever ready to refresh and rejuvenate us if only we are people who develop the habit of regular recollection.
I find it interesting to relive memories by habit of recollecting them at a particular time each day! One benefit of such an exercise is that painful memories gradually get subsumed in joyful and upbuilding memories that we live with.
We do not need to look at a Lily every day, but the memory of the gift, giver and the thought behind it, can last long within to give us an ambience of openness and contentment.
