This is the fifth year in succession since we have had to rebuild walls around our property! The earlier walls built with stones about seventy or more years ago crumbled during the rainy season. The property adjacent to the running stream suffered badly in the recent years as the way collapsed in three places recently.
While we are in our seventies, Anna and I have felt good about being able to do this to secure the property before we are too old to do anything like this. We received this property from my parents as a thriving farm with coconut palms, nutmeg trees and vegetable cultivation, etc. When we planted about seventy five nutmeg trees and twenty coconut palms during this season, we felt good about it because we too have been given the opportunity to continue in the heritage!
To keep a property and benefit from it is one thing; to be a steward of the property involves planning for the future to hand over in a better condition than when one received it.
We are given in order to be able to give even more!
This thought inspires me. To keep anything possessively is to limit the resources; to give plentifully is to spread the resources! The message from the garden of Eden is to till the land and bear fruits!
What a privilege it is to be able to continue this mission given to humans!
