A Bubble!

This bubble reflected all that was in its immediate vicinity! But only for a short time as long it lasted!

A family who returned from the Middle East told me last week that they went to the Middle East in pursuit of a dream to be successful and financially prosperous. But during the COVID pandemic they lost their jobs and having pursued to find one and not being able to, returned with their son who needed developmental support! They talked about a bubble of their aspirations which was short lived!

It is now ten years since I have been at the current work place. Looking back, I too had a bubble expectations! But it is no longer a reality! I have had to reset my choice according to the compulsions of the circumstance.

Life is to be lived dynamically making adaptations and changes to be realistic. We might find disappointments of all sorts, but living beyond our expectations which can evaporate anytime, is a dynamic way of living.

Instead of creating bubbles of aspirations, it might be better to use the existing opportunity and turn it to be an occupation!

The only opportunity that opened up before me was to be a listening companion to families who have been through a rough patch during the last two years! In listening to them, I realise how a new vocation emerges by listening. One family resonated it in the feed back form, 'Thank you for listening. We went back unburdened'!

We live among  people who create bubbles off aspirations! They would soon discover that they cannot attain them! To be companions to them in their recovery process is a virtuous vocation! Listening is way of affirming and accepting people just as they are!
