On Line teaching of Medical students

Anna takes on-line classes for medical students from home. Her colleagues in the department also does the same. Th medical students have already lost three months of their clinical learning and perhaps they might have to be home bound for a few more months as the COVID 19 infection is showing a tendency to spread.

It is awful to think of the students as they miss out a lot without clinical experience. The students had the cultural programmes of the year organised on-line. Think of the denial of experience working together, creative explorations, and group interactions!

It is good to think of alternatives than making students stay at home. Are they not responsible enough to take all the precautions we are obliged to take!

Medical training includes clinical supervision and peer interaction, without which it is sterile. A medical student is a loser when denied a formative experience of being with patients in the wards and out-patient services. The teachers are pointers and anchors for their learning during the bedside practices.
