Face of a pebble !

My father paved our courtyard with these pebbles collected from the river bed about seventy years ago. They are still in our courtyard. It is only recently I had a closer look at the shapes, sizes and 'faces' of these stones. Most pebbles have multiple faces depending on their shapes and size.

I was in awe of this sight as these pebbles have years of history before they were permanently placed in our court yard.

The origin of these pebbles would have been from some mountains from which the stones rolled down in rain and kept moving to finally arrive at the river bed from where they were gathered. I have couple of friends who have a particular interest in gauging the 'age' of the stones. One such visitor after inspecting the pebbles told us that some of them show the 'marks' of at least three hundred years or more of history. The smooth ones travelled most and have a longer history!

Ever since this discovery, I feel privileged to have the pebbles with such a history of hundreds of years in our courtyard.

We have trees in our garden which are hundred years or more old. The jack fruit tree in our garden which gives us plenty of fruits is nearly 150 yeas old!

A history of this nature surrounding us makes us feel that life is a story of  events. The history of our lives and history of all that surround us together make our environment rich!

It is as much as we regard and revere the history, we can become fully incarnate in our own setting. We are planted where we are to celebrate the God of history and people who preceded us.
