As of today, the news is that 43 lives were lost in the riots and violence in New Delhi during the last week. It is an awful news.
What is even more disgusting is the confirmation that the police did not act to protect people or property for 69 hours. The call was given by leader of a political party to 'shoot' people who do to fall in line with the citizen's amendment act. The violence proceeded from that. The state government and the central government watched the violence for 69 hours with no resolve to stop violence!
A justice of the Delhi High court who questioned the inaction of the police and insisted to take action against politicians who incited violence was transferred to another court overnight.
As I look at this bare tree without leaves, it appears to be a metaphor of how politicians allowed lives to fall through rioting and violence by instigating it. The loss of property is colossal.
I grew up in India, where the rule of law was the norm...now we are drifting to be ruled by the will of politicians and their obsessed followers!
I agonise and feel dismayed!
Will justice and values be restored...!
