I noticed this two cattle Egrets being together for a while. When one flew away, the other looked bereft and remained still for a while! A calf was watching this sight from a close distance!
It is the golden yellow bill that makes a cattle Egret different from a Little Egret, who has a black bill. Both have white plumage.
The cattle Egret is usually found near cattle and it seems that the cattle and the egret become fond of each other, 'stalking energetically alongside animals, running in and out between their legs or riding upon their backs and lunging out to seize insects disturbed by their movements among the grass'. They survive on grass hoppers, insects, frog, lizards, fish, etc.
Their white plumage is always well groomed!
