Dark at 5 PM!

The day temperature yesterday at mid day was 37 degrees celsius with high humidity. When I arrived aback at home form work at 5pm, it was dark with overcast sky and strong wind. The cacophony of birds feeling disturbed by the wind and impending down pour was loud and long.

With monsoon two months away, the farmers wait for the intermittent summer rains, because they can get ready for farming activity.

In an hours time the sky was clear and the sun was still shining at the horizon. What announced the calm was a Bulbul perched at the edge of a coconut palm leaf and calling out its bird call loudly and incessantly!

Nature has its unusual scenes and sights.

It was a good way of welcoming the dusk, because if birds sing after a storm or heavy down pour, then we know that they were well protected. There are times when birds get struck by lightening. The garden would be still for a long time. That is how birds mourn their loss!

Birds tell us a lot about what is happening in our environment.
