Coconut climbing and challenges of living!

Most coconut climbers use a mechanical device which make the climbing less effortful!

The device  reduces the risk of climbing.

I have to fix  a date for him to come to our garden at least ten days in advance as he is in great demand! The traditional climbers are few in number. Those who's use the mechanised device are part time climbers who also do other job.

I felt  grateful today because, he found out the bug, which damages the tender shoots of the coconuts.

Nine  coconut palms have been damaged by these bugs during the last ten days. Now it is a fight to contain them! With this, there would be a delay in flowering coconut palms  at least by a year!

No wonder farmers are losers. They have multiple challenges to face!

I am not sure, whether the idea of making agriculture yield the means of livelihood is easy at all! Many who have lost their jobs during the COVID 19 season have returned to farming.

I read a report of the four cracker manufacturers going back to farming as the festival occasions in the temples and churches, where fire crackers were used are not permitted during the COVID 19 pandemic!

The jobs lost are in several multiples of new jobs created! This is not in the active and urgent 'to do list' of governments. Even the church called to live with the mission  of 'Love your neighbours as yourself' is not fully exercised with this precarious situation. Our regards for each other has become cold!

Two boys who have not been to school for nine months now, living in my neighbourhood, told me, 'Is learning form the TV schooling! The schools could have had ten of us come to school every day in which case we would have and an opportunity to go to school at least once a month!' I was pained to hear this!
