A Barbet's way!

After a few days of drizzling mornings, there was a short spell of bright morning today. I watched a Barbet on the electric cable in our courtyard. I was also keeping a track on a wood pecker feeding in the papayas tree opposite. The Barbet found out the spot for its feed.

What followed was interesting. The barbet was watching the wood pecker feeding on the papaya. The Barbet forced its way to the fruit and the wood pecker moved away and flew off.

The way the Barbet was attempting to feed was full of acrobatics. It had to hang to reach the fruit. Its manuring skill was a fascinating sight to watch.

After feeding itself the Barbet flew off to another papaya tree to join another Barbet. They flew away together shortly.

The garden is a window into the bird life, habitat and survival style!
