A ritual!

One Magpie Robin was having its bath on the pool on the road side, adjacent to our compound. The other was waiting on the electric cable waiting for its return. In between its bath, it gave away a few bird calls, perhaps calling its pair to come. At the end after sometime of frolicking in water, which was disturbed by pedestrian, the bird returned to the spot where its pair was waiting for sunbath and grooming!

I was surprised that a Magpie Robin, known to be meticulous to keep its body clean and tidy chose muddy water!  For me it was  a delightful sight! I was even surprised by its in between bird calls, different form the usual, and looking in the direction where its pair was waiting.

Our neighbourhood often has some delightful our courtyard with bird feed.  sights like this! The way it splashed water and made it fall on the body was interesting to watch. It lay flat on the ground allowing water to cover half of its body and suddenly got up shaking its body, which allowed water to fall on its rich feathers. Seeing it do a few times, which appeared like belly like a dance was a fascinating sight.

We have a water bath and feeder for birds in our courtyard. The crows have taken over the place! We are still waiting for other birds!
