Most of the last six months, since the COVID 19 pandemic, the department did not have the complement of the full team any time. Children and the families also cannot visit the department due to the restrictions imposed on children going out of their homes. I have a feeling that this has affected the momentum of activities in the department. Although on-line consultations and development support services are offered for children, it is not good enough for children.
I fear that another few more months would drag on like this.
Although we turned our attention to digitalising the assessment protocols, and preparing a handbook of developmental appraisal of children, the progress has been slow!
We complete 8 years today since starting of the department! There are some commendable beginnings we have made; there are some shortcomings as well.
I hope we would recover from the dislocation of different services, once the COVID 19 pandemic is under control!
To all the professionals, who were part of the team during the last eight years, let me send you our warm regards and appreciation for what you left behind during your time of service here. We remember each one of them fondly and remain grateful. Each of them helped in enlarging the understanding of the child development needs of children.
Another year of opportunities is before us!
