One site that captures the attention of the visitors to the Christian Medical College campus at Chittor is its chapel which is open on all sides! It is located near the entrance to the campus. With this campus now having a hospital which draws about five hundred patients each day, it is often used by the visitors for prayer!
All the campuses of CMC Vellore, now nine of them, have a place set apart for for prayer! It is in keeping with the heritage of the institution. When Dr. Ida Scudder built the college campus, she built the chapel between the college building and with women's hostel to communicate that 'learning begins with prayer'.
Since then the chapel symbolises the spirit of the institution, 'it is in God we trust'!
