The flowering trees tell us a lot about some realities that we do not often dwell on!
There are only one or few fruits in each bunch of the flowers in this cashew nut tree.
Even those few fruits are invaded by the ants. Most of those fruits will overcome to give the pulp and the nut!
There is a lesson for life in this feature in nature!
We are people in a humanity of spectrum of behaviour phenotypes. The Americans have a culture of behaviour different from that of the Chinese. The Australians are not as tradition bound as the English. The Iranians differ from the Indonesians in their view of religious traditions. The Germans are different from the Swiss in their life style.
We live in a world inhabited by people of different practices and rituals and yet the United Nations bring all these nations to live harmoniously, respecting each other. There are times when some nations behave contrary to the convention of respecting the independence of other nations. The Russian invasion of the Ukrainians is one such example.
The hostile environment threatens human wellness ! A courteous environment promotes wellness!
While visiting a large family shopping centre for clothing yesterday, I got a glimpse of the hospitality practices in that place which would surprise the visitors. From offering free parking to accompanying visitors while they are being served, gave me glimpse of the culture of turning their business into success through hospitality!
Mr Rahul Gandhi who completed a 4000 km walk to promote 'Bharat Jodo' movement spoke impolitely and distastefully of the political leadership in India while lecturing in the Cambridge university recently. He through his four months long walk, spoke about love as a the way of life. But I wonder if he failed to show that towards his political opponents! We live with many contradictions.
All flowers do not become fruits. Flowering is good enough because it gives honey to the ants. But the fruit bearing has a larger purpose of giving life to another generation of seeds, seedlings and trees to continue the cycle of life of that species.
We do not live our lives in isolation. We live among others, who are our neighbours. Our presence has mission of bringing wellness to others.
I stay pondering over this! I wonder whether I pursue the wellness of others actively and altruistically!
The cashew tree gives its flowers and fruits freely for others! The fruits have a larger mission!
