We had some chairs unusable as the seat made of plastic flat wires got damaged. The life the seat might be about seven years. Such chairs are no more created. Instead the seats are made of wood over which foam cushions are put.
This artisan happened to arrive offering to reweave them seats with new plastic wire. He told me that he learned this forty years ago, when such chairs were regularly made and repairs done periodically. He happened to be working in an office, where about 2000 people worked and for eighteen years his work was to reweave the seats of damaged cars. He worked on two chairs on an average every day.
He offered to train others in this art and skill, but none had volunteered to do so. This skill will probably remain confined to him.
I like the way, he diligently worked each day and repaired four chairs by now.
His life is effusive with enthusiasm and responsible work culture! He conveyed satisfaction and fulfilment. He lives on a pension from his earlier work place and this occasional job gives him an added pocket money.
His help was timely and he reminded me of someone who work with motivation and interest!
