Lillies in our garden

It is usually in late February and early March we find the Lillies bloom in our garden. We had a few of these lilies in bloom even in the Christmas week. An evidence of climate change.

Th rain at this time when the mango trees are flowering is not welcome according to the farmers in our village.

There is change and challenge ahead of us.

A seven year old child form our neighbourhood stopped me to ask, 'When can I go to school'! I too have remained with this question.

I am critic of the convenient way the educational policy makers have justified on-line education for children for the last nine months. Why was not children welcomed in small groups to school to give them a social experience of being together! Why is that teachers did not offer to welcome ten children each day to give them an experience of a school ambience, while the regular teaching continued in the on line mode! I feel hesitant to think  that we would have placed children at greater risk with a small group coming to school for tow hours or so.

To me this is an example of how children in society receive the last or least attention! The bars, cinema theatres, public gatherings such as marriages, pilgrimages, etc got full attention. Children got the last attention. To me it was a laid back attitude!

The Lillies receive least attention in our garden. Yet they bloom two or three times in a year.

If we were to give  more attention to children during difficult times, they would do better. Th emotional, social and relations dimensions of children have received least attention. The government of Kerala is currently thinking of a state level structure to protect children from emotional upheavals. Well done!

I offer to be available as a volunteer to be involved with adolescent children to help them to engage questions which puzzle them!
