From our garden!

There are enough rose flowers in our garden every day for a flower arrangement. So we have flowers in our dining table and drawing room. I have flowers even in my work place. Although we had these rose plants for some years, it is only now Anna and I got the hang of pruning and manuring them on time to get a good collection of flowers. Even watering them was left to our domestic helper. Since our involvement in taking care of them, the plants look better.

It is a lesson of some significance. When we give attention there is greater return or response.

Children are like flowers in the garden of life. Most parents substitute their attention with giving them screen time by allowing them to watch programmes in the TV or in the mobile Phones.  From an interview with fifty families, their toddler children have about two hours of screen time every day. Instead of family games, conversation times, walks or joint activities, children spend time in their solitary world without interaction. This denies them of the social and emotional skills which they would need to develop communication and interactive skills! By the time children are in the eight standard, twenty percent of school going children possess a smart phone! This might be true only in an urban context. But there is a change in the way children grow up.

I feel for children who are denied of interactive times and conversation habits!
