I have observed that rose flowers droop under heavy down pour and petals fall of cutting short their normal life span.
I attempted to revive them by placing them in a flower vase. To my surprise the flowers lasted for a week in the vase and stayed fresh.
The petals get soaked in water and become heavy.
The rain soaked petals do not last long. The petals are fragile although sturdy enough to withstand normal wind and rain. An unusual rain fall would damage them.
The expectation of parents from their children can become a burden on the children. Many parents want children to obey and conform. There is hardly a place for dialogue and compromises. I come across families who create a regimented environment. They are not given a chance to exercise their choice or express their contrary opinions.
I have recently wondered whether children live their lives fully or live wilted!
In a conversation with a family, I felt relieved to hear that the family decided to give all the help to promote the interest of their teenage boy to play football. The recent coaching he received enabled him to be included in the school team and become its captain. He won a tournament recently. His mother told us that this encouragement changed his approach to academic work in the class. He moved upward in grade and has a diligent approach to his class room requirements. It was relieving to hear how a family restored interest in learning by fostering the passion of their son in football.
Any one of us can go under the weight of circumstances.
We need a different environment when we feel heavy or challenged beyond our endurance level.
I found the work pressure becoming a burden recently, because of which I reduced the number of families I welcome each day. It is following this I sensed my own proneness to feel wilted and becoming less valuable to families who come to visit.
Since this change in the work setting, there is greater ease to relate to families and give them the time they need without making other families wait beyond their time of appointment.
It is necessary to have periodic personal appraisal exercise to measure our inner wellness and act on renewing it by introducing changes that are necessary.
