This was the sight ahead of us at dawn, when Anna and I were on our way to Vellore recently. A cloudy sky with the sunshine breaking forth in between the clouds!
The cloud was dusky and was a sure indication of rain! That is what happened shortly. But following the rain, the sky became clear and the sunshine returned.
The sight of the rolling Nilgiri mountains was obscured by the cloud which covered the sunshine.
This to me is a vivid illustration of how our sights are blurred by transient experiences in life. All experiences are for us to learn from or celebrate or lament about for a while. Most experiences would only be like the clouds, which would vanish after the rain.
The traction of our deceptive mind is to retain the negative experiences and brood over them. Instead, just as the sunshine is evident in the horizon even amidst the cloudy sky, it is necessary to view the difficult experiences through the perspective of hope and meaning that is in the horizon.
Life can be a journey through clouds for many without trusting the sunshine to breakthrough sometime or other!
Th road we travelled took us beyond this cloudy sight!
It is a source of great comfort to know that it is 'in God we live, move and have our being'!
