Shoots, leaves and Buds!

Most Rose Bushes in our garden are like this one, with new shoots and buds! After a longer waiting this season, the rose bushes are beginning to be shooting new leaves. They looked lifeless during the prolonged monsoon season of seven months this year.

I get a sense of the hopelessness that sets in when people have to endure difficulties for too long!

A family is feeling the pressure to pay the monthly instalment of the bank loan, taken for the house construction. With illness needing treatment for three members in the family and no income, this family fears that the bank would take punitive action.

The rich and the well to do also take bank loans for different purposes. They know how to delay repayment and yet don't get caught. But people who have nothing to live on get harassed and sometimes the banks go to the extent of confiscating their house! While talking to a bank officer on this matter to find a way forward, I was asked, 'Why are you interfering on this matter! You are a third party. We do not deal with third parties'! It left me distressed.

Just as the rose bush in our garden remained battered in the rain, so also many in our neighbourhood live reduced lives struggling to meet the demands on their lives! It is a struggle to exist!

It is a time when those who live well can come forward to make lives better for some others!
