At any one time there might be about thirty-five banana bunches in our garden.
From what I happened to find out today, I am surprised that the banana trees and bunches do not receive most of the ideal practices they would need.
The care for the banana bunches begin from the very beginning they appear. Once all the layers of the bananas are fully formed, it is necessary to cut of the flower and the fingers in the stem close to the flower to preserve the energy and nutrition reaching to the bunches that would grow. All the dry leaves need to be cut and the tip of the leaves which turn brown. The baby banana trees which sprout from the roots and appear in the surface ought to me not more than three. Some say remove all except two. It is good to protect banana bunches with bags to allow growth in a protected environment. Manure the plant every three months.
We do not do most of these things.
The shop keeper to whom we take to sell them commented a few times that the bunches of banana we take have less numbers of banana and look smaller. I can believe that as what others bring are huge bunches.
I got concerned about it three days back as all the five bunches that were ready for sale looked horribly small and non appealing.
You leave the banana plants unattended; they give you proportionate to what you invest.
I know that it is true in child development. Children grow up well only when their nurture is attended to well.
But I failed to apply this to the plants and trees we have in the garden.
What constrains us to be all out to do, is the lack of domestic workers! The one who has been with us is currently ill.
Life unfolds dependent on the nurture we offer!
When the new batch of medical students joined recently, at the college where I work, a young professional mentioned to me that we could offer more nurturing environment for them.
Do students welcome formative planning of their lives! That is yet another question as students seem to be more private and less open to be on a formative journey.
After two sessions during the orientation, I gave each person a handwritten feed back in response to the summary they wrote about their one month experience. That was to indicate the resolve Anna and I have, to be viable to be companions to those who reach out!
