The Thomas Cook has fallen from its leadership in travel tourism!
It is following the company engaging in unwise merger, paying huge package of bonus to its leaders and following unsustainable trade practices.
You falter ethically once and the slide starts.
If integrity and service get displaced by greed and control, the journey is in the wrong direction.
Thomas Cook was earlier seen as an infallible company known as a bench mark for good business practices.
This is the end result of lure of money. It is an addiction. It is as enslaving as alcoholism.
In a world of the rich and poor, let me suggest that it is the rich who creates the poor. The rich cannot be so filthy rich unless they have an unfair practice denying the poor of their share of benefits.
In my younger days, at least some business firms existed to provide services. But profit is the dominating drive and accepted as the way in business. The not-for-profit organisations too have changed their character !
It is a time to grieve for our loss of values in public life.
But a correction long needed, would it come!
