I had no access to take a photo of this dragon fly resting on a cable at a height except by facing the light! All I knew about light adjustments in the camera did not help me. Even a flat would not have helped as the the range of the flash light is only about 12 meters even in a telephoto mode.
I still treasure the picture because it unusual. It is the second time in the last few days I tried photographing a dragon fly while facing the light. The result is the same on both occasions.
We live in a society where conforming to certain patters appear to be difficult to some people. From childhood one message we offer to ur children is to be honest. As we grow up we still teach honesty to children at home, school and in sunday schools.
But many adults by pressure or volitionally leave the practice of being honest. Most of us face this temptation all the time. While purchasing a product recently, there was a saving of five thousand rupees if I did not need a receipt. Our system prompts us to take the convenient path and many lean towards the material gain drowning the moral voice.
Fighting the good practices has become the norm, if we were to go by the thousands of crores the banks lost in the last 25 years through lending.
In hospital practices, there is a pressure for hospitals to stock medicines which do not guarantee stated efficacy as they are cheaper and offer a wider margin of profit. The recent closure of three overbridges in Ernakulum seem to point to use of inferior quality construction materials. I have been told of instances where operative procedures are done when conservative management would have given equally dependable results for the sake of gain for the hospital and the surgeon. These are informations and I wish they are all untrue!
The natural way is to respect light while taking photography. The natural way of conduct is honesty.
