Plenty but not for every one!

Every stem has a bud ready to blossom!

Life gives us this opportunity to lend ourselves with good deeds to others.

Yesterday, two neighbours visited me. One who is looking for some job to sustain himself. Another person who retired and is looking for a re-employment.

Whatever the central government or the Reserve Bank might say about the economic slow down, it is evident that jobs are not easy to find. People feel the stress of living with the cost of living not any less.

It is in this context I view all the extravaganza that is evident all around us when people are lavish with wedding celebrations, festival celebrations, taking expensive holidays, ...etc. The middle class  and the upper middle class might not feel the stress.

The people at the bottom are the ones who feel the loss of opportunities. When the farmers decided to protest by walking from the towns of the state of UP to new Delhi to attract the attention of those in the central government, they were stopped from proceeding.

A bridge in Ernakulum which was built two years ago needs to be demolished due to poor quality in construction. It was built at a cost of 42 crores of rupees. The construction company benefitted from favours they received. Why should they receive favours unless they too offered favours to those who mattered. There is plenty of money, but only in the possession of about three percent of the population in India.

I wish, there is a new awakening about our social responsibility! We cannot be content until every neighbour is well fed, has a shelter and enough to educate their children, take care of their health needs and some savings left for their old age.

The amount people of Kerala spend on alcohol in a single day is enough to build fifty single bed room houses. Who cares!

With the collections which a church receives in a year, it might be possible to offer health care support for fifty families.

We are to blossom socially, by consuming less and living mindfully of others who are left with very little to live on!
