The memory of its colourfulness and elegant presence will last for a while!
It brings a call to live gracefully open and giving for others in the garden!
The hymn Anna I sang in the morning was by Henry Van Dyke:
"Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee,
God of glory, God of love,
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee,
Opening to the sun above.....
All Thy works with joy surround Thee,
Earth and heaven reflect Thy ways,
Stars and angels sing around Thee,
Centre of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and and mountain,
Flowery meadow and flashing sea,
Chanting bird and flowing fountain,
Call us to rejoice in Thee.
Thou art giving and forgiving,
Ever blessing and ever blest,
Well-spring of the joy of living,
Ocean depth of happy rest!......"
We are surrounded by daily scenes and memories of joy that God brings to us !
A flower fades away, but during its life time it was open to all to give its radiance, fragrance and honey!
The text from the book of Micah, in the Old Testament of the Bible has a reminder to us about the purpose our being: ".... O man what is good; and what does the Lord require of you; but to do justice, to love kindness, and walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8).
Each of us too has a calling to love mercy, to do justice and walk humbly... !
The purpose of being, becoming and belonging was symbolised in the flower above!
