Alone in the garden!

This rose bush alone had a flower in our garden for a few days last week. That was unusual as there are about thirty bushes in our garden. After the pruning, they are yet to have flowers.

The flower lasted for three days before it showed signs of withering. By then other flowers were blossoming.

During the time it was the only rose flower, it stood out and got noticed. I did not gather it for the flower vase as I thought that its presence in the garden represented all the other rose bushes,  yet to blossom.

Being present alone is an opportunity to represent a larger purpose.

I read about a family in Chennai during the recent floods, who prepared fifty food packets to distribute for the five days, when their residential area was cut off with flooding waters in the street. a neighbour  also did similarly and reached the food to a collection point from where it was distributed. A small response to a big need! Ye tit was spontaneous and generous, when one of them had to walk each morning with bagful of food in knee deep water for half an hour! The cooked this food when the family had to manage without power supply and their courtyard too had ankle deep water .

We might be alone and just have one candle left to light! But to light that candle is all that one can do, which is a good news in a dark corner!
