It was the paint shop owner who suggested us to try the 'Blue potter' colour!
The first impression we have since the walls are painted is that of the sky on a bright sunny day.
This different look brings cheer and grace in one sense. The canopy above is now symbolised in our garden. It gives us a good feeling living with a promise . The skyward orientation is hope giving.
A recent distressing experience was when the home minister of India justified the 2002 Gujarat riots during the recent election campaign in that state, by saying that 'through the riots we established peace in the state'. It was the Godhra riots where hundreds of Muslims were pulled out of their homes and killed by burning or slaughtering them.
The sorrow of that human hate towards one community is deep within. But for the Home minister of India it was justifiable ands readily available to be referred to, to get votes for his party during the election.
When we live amidst such earthly realities of unjustifiable human behaviour it is important to live with a transcendent view of life.
The sky is a symbol of hope and destiny. There is largeness of life, because 'we live, move and have our being in God', which to me is reflected when we turn skyward. It is a canopy above us under which we live receiving the good gifts in life!
Anna and I feel good that a symbol of that canopy is on our walls now!
