The babblers were returning to their home one by one- to a well protected part of as Asoka tree in our garden. I counted at least five of them entering into the thick foliage one by one.
There was a a crow hovering around that tree and a Babbler came out of their shelter and kept a vigil till the crow flew way.
I watched this Babbler with its vigilante look perched in a branch adjacent to the there shelter for till it was almost dusk. I was taken a back by its protective instinct!
The bird behaviours have something unique to each species. The Babblers live as a community, five to ten in each group. Their cheeping calls bring them close to each other, when there is any threat. They keep in touch with each other all the time. If we spot one, the others in the community would also be around, not far form each other. They are friendly birds and offer no threat to other smaller birds.
We have about twenty species in our garden and an equal number of visitors!
What is special about the presence of birds in the garden!
Birds when they are present in good number in a garden, they make it a miniature aviary!
