The palm trees are used to thrive even in water starved conditions. Hence most gardens and premises of multi-storeyed buildings would have a collection of ornamental palms.
We too have about fifty palms along our compound wall of the cottage. They provide shade cover the ugliness of the concrete walls.
Their roots are not inclined to spread far and wide. They do not get uprooted even in a storm.
One important thing about palms is that they grow up without all the care other plants and trees would need.
Even shade grass grow well under the palms, unlike other trees which inhibit the growth of shade grass, due to the thick foliage cutting off natural light!
If there is a little space in a garden, an ornamental palm is a good choice to plant!
