Anna takes special interest in taking care of the Orchid patch, Mulberry and Passion fruit plants in our garden. So the pictures above are to greet her when she is away.
Although Anna is away only for less than 24 hours for her 55th class reunion of the 1968 batch of undergraduate students at CMC Vellore, I feel unsettled being alone. I too have a travel tomorrow to be at another meeting. It was because of that I could not go with Anna. It is also the 25th reunion of another batch of medical students, of which Arpit, our son is part of. He is with his family celebrating the reunion.
As I walked in the garden, I remembered the daily visit Anna makes to her favourite plants, three of which are above. I admire how Anna attends to the kitchen garden and the fruit garden with sustained interest. I gather flowers from the plants, but am not faithful in taking care of them.
A garden is a metaphor!
We till the ground and plant, the soil yields the roots and shoots.
The family life is such a meeting point. It is what we give to each other in love and service, we grow to bring blessings to each other. We give and receive. This is an interdependent relationship, which makes the family flourish in living fulfilled and serving others self givingly! A family is the birth place of all good habits and practices. A family is the soil of wellness in a society! This is a longing rather than a reality as yet, in a society where life in the family is given less attention than it deserves.
