Birds of this week!

This is spring time for the rest of the world, but we are already in the summer heat, with the day time temperature reaching 38 degree celsius.

I noticed that some birds stay in the shade for a while in between their flights.

The resting time is a recollecting and reviewing time. I do not know whether birds have such rhythms.

I received from a good friend Dr Sanjeeth Peter, from his recent collection of bird sightings, a series of pictures of Amur Falcon, who travel about 45000 kilometres each year between their breeding ground and wintering ground, during which India too appears in their flight path, Nagaland, western ghats, etc.

Dr Sanjeeth, a cardio-thoracic surgeon is a well known photographer to trace the flight paths and habitats of birds. Some of his photographs are listed in the rare collections of photographs of birds.

In my attempt to trace the flight patterns of  some familiar birds in our garden, I found one thing that interested me.

The birds in our garden need a friendly and welcoming ambience. A pair of bulbuls often visited the semi enclosed area behind our dining room for a few days. One of them even brought twigs and placed in the corner below the ceiling. For some reason, they abandoned their choice of place for nesting.

I had a tendency to look and be refreshed by the sighting of birds; but in the recent times the bird behaviours have caught my attention.

They live with no certainties of anything as they are subject to the changes of season.

And yet their bird songs do not cease! They sing for themselves and others all the time.

Life is for living and that is characterised by how we live relationally and consciously!

I stay with these thoughts now!
