Another season of building a wall!

Since we started to live in our cottage, ten years ago, almost every year we had to undertake building a wall. Hopefully we are nearing the completion of building the last compound wall. We have only about three months of window in a year when we are certain that rains will not interfere with the building of a wall. Last year we set out in that hope but we had a longer spell of rainy season which got this project postponed.

This wall has to be built beside a stream and access to bring building materials is restricted to a small gate in a property with three terraces with a descent of about fifty feet from the first terrace. So the work would be slow and has to be manual, as there is no access for excavation equipment to reach the spot.

The five men at work would spend the next month to build the 70 meters long wall to the height of four meters to reach the ground level. Then follows the building of the boundary wall at a height of two meters for  securing the property!

We contribute socially by employing five daily wage earners for about a month! That is a consolation!

We live in a society where securing the property from encroachers is expected of every land owner! I wish we had a morally upright society where we live with a collective consciousness of respecting each other's property and the garden produce! A neighbour friendly society!
