From a song to choral singing!

I came across an interesting event from the life of St Francis, in a book Anna presented to me on our 43rd wedding anniversary, 'The wisdom of St Francis and his companions', that Francis and his Friar asked the birds to stop singing till they sang their choruses to God. Both of them were so moved by the birdsongs which they heard while on their silent walk, that they were also moved to sing!

I found it difficult to sight the sunbirds, except when they sing. They are first of small and prefer to stay hidden.

It is the song that reveals its presence in the garden.

In the same book, St Francis refers to our 'deeds' as our song.

If our deeds are the way we make our presence known to others, there is a lot to think and ponder over how and what we do.

It is during our road journeys that Anna and I think about this loudly.

How are we to behave so that what we do become a 'song of gladness' even in difficult circumstances!

St Francis admonished his companions, 'Even though you are on a journey, your conversation must be humble and honest as though you were in a hermitage..'

Living the 'humble and honest way' is a calling!
