We are travellers!

At the port at Kochi, Anna and I watched this contrasting sights while on a harbour cruise!

The tanker was towed by a boat in the front and one each on either side helping it to turn to move to the Bay of Bengal! Obviously it was leaded with hundreds of tons of goods that it needed a mighty force to be moved out of its berth in the container terminal.

There was two men in a small boat rowing back after their fishing travel in the afternoon. They seemed effortless at the oars.

These are two contrasting perspectives! Both are necessary realities of life. Sometimes we need to carry a heavy load of aspirations, plans, challenges or stresses of life. Some other times we are free of all these and light at heart to move on easily in life.

We are destined to be travellers in life. Even a foetus 'travels' within a mother's womb moving all the time in the amniotic fluid. The difference is that the gentle Braxtonian contractions of the uterus facilitate this travelling.

The question for us to consider is whether we are moving on our own or we are being moved!

If we are to move with the heaviness we carry, we would soon feel exhausted. But if we are moved, we would feel lighter and carried! That is why Jesus of Nazareth offered an invitation to His followers, 'Come to me all those who are weary and a are burdened...I will give you rest'.

So there is a provision to travel restfully!

To 'come' to the One who would carry us, I have found to be a difficult experience, but when I consent to that choice, it is a liberating and revealing experience of living the stress restfully!
