Anna and I were taking in from our car, the exquisite views of the blue mountains with evening sun turning it into shades of green, when the sky suddenly became grey and the snow white clouds turned pale yellow. There was thundering, storm and rain. It was a bountiful sight to behold.
As the sky became clear for a short while, we noticed the smoke trail of a supersonic jet in the horizon. It is presumed that there may be ten or more supersonic jets in an air space, some escaping from the the radar control while engaged in spying.
This is the paradox. The nature is the symbol of goodness and bounty for humankind to richly enjoy. But there is also fear of destruction lingering in the air. Fear creates, anxiety, stress and hostility. The nations of the world are piling up arsenal to fight war and threaten neighbors. This destroys human brotherhood. This divides nations into enemies.
Peace ushers in goodwill and hope. Two pre-adolescent children were quarreling over who shall bat first, while getting ready for their cricket game. A five year old girl, watching this said to them, ‘If one of you can give give in, both of you can enjoy playing’. That is what they did.
Jesus of Nazareth, whom historians refer to as the Prince of peace once said. ‘Peace be with you’. This is both a blessing and promise. Humans hold the key to usher in God’s peace upon earth.
