Message of comfort and contentment !

The feeding style of a red vented Bulbul is worth watching because of its habit of taking time to feed pausing and relishing the feed. It turns the occasion to be present, taking small portions with each bite showing composure and comfort! It does not convey hurry or desperation to feed.

Food is an existential need.

Birds feed on what they can find.

At the feeding table in our garden, they are offered banana every day. But that alone is not the source of their food.

The birds fly long distances and they make flight their habit. They fly to remain fit and go to places where they can find food, water, and shelter. They choose places where other birds also congregate. During this season when it is a temperate climate in the plains many birds escape from mountain ranges or cold terrain to have a long winter recess from their normal habitats. They are not settlers or permanent residents in any one region. Most birds do not live in a nest except for breeding purpose.

The world is their home. All countries welcome the migratory birds.

Following the second word war and 'globalisation' there was a feeling that the world is the home for all nationalities. There was a gravitation towards developed countries and many in developing countries used that opportunity to find jobs in western countries and settle down there.

The recent policy of a reduced status for green card holders and moratorium on immigrants from 17 countries which the United States America announced tells us of another mind set ruling the nations.

The world is no more a home of national identities respecting each other. Some nations dominate and some nations are in the receiving end. It seems that the democratic countries become  autocratic and authoritarian. The United Nations Organisation is a passive onlooker to what Israel and  Russia have done to their neighbours and now even the USA threatening to invade a south American country!

The Bulbul above was feeding and feeling content!

As humans we are expected to think soberly and act wisely!

It looks like that the national identity is now becoming racial identity!

We are no more neighbours to each other! Some countries are envious of other countries and eye their territory, wealth, resource and human resource for narrow selfish interests.

The red vented Bulbul brought to me hope and consolation. Its way reminded me of goodness and mindfulness !
