We have two Mangostine trees which flower and bear fruits once in two years. Both trees are almost full with fruits. When the fruits are ripe, it has a dark brown look and is almost ugly to look at. But the pulp inside is glistening white with a seed and sour taste, almost unique!
We have some friends who make these trees flower every year by manuring the trees twice a year with fertilisers specially meant for them.
As this fruit is not so common, there is a lot of trespassing by others to gather them! It is one occasion, when 'love your neighbour as yourself' becomes a real challenge!
My parents were fond of this fruit and they got the saplings from a hill station thirty years ago.
