Is watching a match relaxing or stressful!
I kept watching the body language of those present to witness the inter-house games. I felt that even the spectators were playing the game mentally, seen from the several gestures which were frequently changing depending on whether the team they were supporting were doing well or not!
I asked a few at the end of the game, about their experiences of watching the game. Most of them said, 'we were tense'. The few who said, that we came to enjoy the game also told me that winning or losing are both part of the game spirit!
All said and done, most of us carry the instinct to win... in so doing we attribute to losing a disadvantage.
Having been with children for the last forty years in professional work, I have a different experience with young children. When a child learns the art of walking, the falls are too many for any child to be normally discouraged. But the falls become a reason to keep walking! The child turns the 'loss' to an advantage!
So whether we win or loose, both have a message and inspiration ! So enjoy the game!
