The last photo above gives an impression of the skilful way a Myna balances on one foot while perched on an edge! The inclined body and the flexed neck downward are sustained in one foot!
It is a precarious position, but the Myna manages well with no threat to its steady posture or composure.
I felt myself in a precarious situation yesterday, while taking out the car from a parking slot. It was raining and the rear view was limited. Another car was wrongly parked and the only access was to reverse the car with only few inches of space on either side of the car. It took a while to negotiate that narrow access. To get into the car itself was difficult as the space to open the door was limited. During the process of folding the umbrella while getting into the car, I dropped the ATM card in the car. It took a while to find that. It was a combination of multiple events leading to an unsettling experience.
I recalled this experience, while watching the Myna balancing well with the support of one foot at the edge of the feeding table.
Its composure and steady body posture gave me an insight about the readiness it carried by practice to negotiate a difficult position!
While driving back home, I recalled the time at the bank where the officer went out of her way to help to sort out couple of pending matters. I felt attended to in a cordial manner. The wellness and comfort that generated was the inner milieu with which I came to the car to drive away. The prevailing inner milieu of wellness and comfort at the bank, eased the stress and carried me forward to negotiate a difficult experience while taking out the car.
The passage to our home in the last stretch of about 100 meters is a single lane and if a vehicle were to come from the opposite side, one of us has to reverse to find a broad space to allow movement. That was what happened yesterday. The driver of the vehicle coming from the opposite side signalled to me that he would reverse his car, although it was a longer distance for him to create space for me to go.
We are often sandwiched between comforting and disturbing experiences in life. The inner ambience of wellness that good experiences offers us, often helps us to be patient and comfortable while encountering a challenging situation.
The state of wellness and peace is in our domain of choice! That was what occurred to me !
A Myna faces precarious situations with equanimity!
The experiences yesterday offered lessons in that direction!
