I have a particular interest in observing the altar in churches. It symbolises many aspects of the congregation, its beliefs and traditions!
Most of us have an inner alter or a sacred place within us, which is the seat of our consciousness of God. It offers us the experience of God's presence within us.
The alter in a church symbolises this reality and communicates God consciousness when a congregation assembles for collective worship!
The sacredness and serenity it represents contributors to the worshipful experience of the congregation!
